Stay Wild, Stay Safe
Having fun, being free, being safe together.
Our Wildwood Experiences will continue to run this Summer, however we've had to make some changes to the way we work due to the physical restrictions we are currently experiencing. If you know us, then you know how difficult we find restrictions of any kind, however we want you to know that we do this because we want to keep our elders and more vulnerable friends and family safe and well, so we are grateful for your help with this.
Sessions start at 10.30am and finish at 3.30pm, and we ask that parents are respectful of these start times and don't linger for too long on collection and drop off. If you arrive early, please wait in your car until your drop off / pick up time begins.
The Tribes will contain smaller groups of just 6 young people and there will be 2 adults per group.
In addition to the usual kit list, participants will need to bring their own labelled sit mat, potato peeler and working gloves. We are offering these items in a bundle for folk to buy for £20. They come in a nice drawstring 'Go Wild' bag, with lovely hand made waterproof sit mats that can be rolled up and tucked away!
We will be observing distancing rules, however parents must acknowledge that young people may at times come into physical contact with others, particularly if they need first aid, comforting if they are unhappy, or through play. We will do our best to make sure distanced seating around the camp fire is adhered to and that participants do not share tools, gloves, food or clothing.
We would ask that only young people with a clear understanding of physical distancing and an ability to put this into practice attend the sessions, and for this we need to be guided by you, so please do make sure you are confident that your child will be able to keep others safe before you book them on a session.
In particular we need you to agree to the following;
If any parent, child or member of their household / 'support bubble’ have any clear symptoms of Covid 19, we would prefer for the child not to attend the session until a negative result is received.
If any staff member, participant or someone in their household / 'support bubble’ tests positive for Covid 19, up to 2 weeks prior to the session, they should not attend, and should follow gov guidelines here:
Each group forms a ‘Tribe’ for the duration of the day. If any child or staff in that Tribe presents with clear Covid 19 symptoms at any time during the session, the session will end, parents will be notified and the individual will go for testing, with follow up checks from staff.
If any staff member or participant tests positive for Covid 19 for up to 2 weeks after a session, all individuals of the group should be notified and should then take appropriate action as advised by the Gov website here:
There are no other groups due to be at Frylands Wood other than the Woodshed nursery who have their own toilet block. We have our own block which is cleaned before and after we arrive and leave. Participants will be escorted to the toilets and will go one at a time, with a staff member disinfecting loo and sink before, in between users and afterwards. Please make sure your child brings their own hand sanitiser.
Tools will be kept to a minimum and disinfected before and after each use. Craft materials such as clay, string, wool etc will be issued in individual labelled 'packs' during the sessions.
Young people need to bring their own labelled water bottles and packed lunches. We will be cooking marshmallows, but each person will have their own cooking stick which we will burn afterwards, and staff will ensure they are wearing disposable gloves to handle the marshmallows and biscuits. No other cooking will be able to take place at this time.
We reserve the right to cancel sessions should government guidance change at any time, or if there is an incident within a Tribe. We cannot refund bookings, however we will be happy to honour them at a later date.
Other than all of that, we will continue to be as Wild as we ever were, and look forward to getting back out there again!
