Stay Wild, Stay Safe
Having fun, being free, being safe together.
Our kids club will continue to run this Winter, however we've had to make some changes to the way we work due to the physical restrictions we are currently experiencing. If you know us, then you know how difficult we find restrictions of any kind, however we want you to know that we do this because we want to keep our elders and more vulnerable friends and family safe and well, so we are grateful for your help with this.
• Deer Tribe will arrive at 10.30am and pick up will be at 3,30pm.
We ask that parents are respectful of these start times and don't linger for too long on collection and drop off. If you arrive early, please wait in your car until your drop off / pick up time begins.
The Tribe will contain smaller groups of just 8 children and there will be 2 adults per group.
In addition to the usual kit list, children will need to bring their own labelled sit mat, potato peeler and working gloves. We can supply some of these items with enough advance notice.
We will be observing distancing rules, however parents must acknowledge that children may at times come into physical contact with others, particularly if they need first aid, comforting if they are unhappy, or through play. We will do our best to make sure distanced seating around the camp fire is adhered to and that children do not share tools, gloves, food or clothing.
We would ask that only children with a clear understanding of physical distancing and an ability to put this into practice attend the sessions, and for this we need to be guided by you, so please do make sure you are confident that your child will be able to keep others safe before you book them on a session.
In particular we need you to agree to the following;
If any parent, child or member of their ‘bubble’ have any symptoms of Covid 19, they should not attend the session.
If any staff member, participant or someone in their ‘bubble’ tests positive for Covid 19, 2 weeks prior to the session, they should not attend.
Each group forms a ‘Tribe’ for the duration of the day. If any child or staff in that Tribe presents with clear Covid 19 symptoms at any time during the session, the session will end, parents will be notified and the individual will go for testing, with follow up checks from staff.
If any staff member, participant or someone in their ‘bubble’ tests positive for Covid 19 for up to 2 weeks after a session, and all then all individuals of the group and their ‘bubbles’ (parents / family members) should be notified and should then self-isolate for 2 weeks.
There may be other groups due to be at Frylands Wood but no-one but us will be on our site.
When we venture out on our explorations, we will ensure that we don't come into contact with any other folk. (Pretty easy in winter we usually find!)
The toilet is cleaned before and after we arrive and leave. Children will be escorted to the toilets and will go one at a time. Please make sure your child brings their own hand sanitiser, although there is some by the toilets.
Tools will be kept to a minimum and disinfected before and after each use. Craft materials such as clay, string, wool etc will be issued by staff wearing gloves during the sessions, and not shared.
Children need to bring their own labelled water bottles and packed lunches. We will be cooking marshmallows, but each child will have their own cooking stick which we will burn afterwards, and staff will ensure they are wearing disposable gloves to handle the marshmallows and biscuits. No other cooking will be able to take place at this time.
We reserve the right to cancel sessions should government guidance change at any time, or if there is an incident within a Tribe. We cannot refund bookings, however we will be happy to honour them at a later date.
Other than all of that, we will continue to be as Wild as we ever were, and look forward to getting back out there again!
